A career in violin making may have seen the likes of Johann Sebastian Bach soar to the same heights as the italian masters, nobody can know. Perhaps the melting pot in Cremona, Italy during the Baroque Period that saw the luthiers Guarneri, Ruggieri and Stradivari set the benchmark for quality stringed instruments was a part of the same wave of influence that inspired Bach’s musical output of the 1720s, including the sets of six suites he wrote for solo violin and cello, respectively.
